Can you transfer a movie from Windows media player to a Digital Video camera to be edited?

I am planning to make a machinima in the near future and I am taking recordings from a game. Whenever I record it, the video is stored in Windows Media player 11. I want to edit the clips, but I can only do that in my digital Video Camera. Help?

Try using Windows Movie Maker, is easier than editing with the camcorder.
